The moose passion

So how did it all begin with the elks and the homepage...
We collected stuffed elks and just wanted to put them all on the internet. It was actually completely unnecessary, but we just felt like it.

Sometime in 2001, the first homepage about our passion for collecting was created. Version 1 and 2 were followed by the then final version of the homepage in 2006. The page changed its appearance depending on the season in summer / winter / Christmas or by clicking on the thermometer. The technology of the page was, by today's standards, kept very simple. But at the time there was neither html5 nor the possibilities that CSS offers today.

But the homepage had many fans. As was customary at the time, there was a guest book in which visitors left their thoughts.

Here are 2 pictures of the summer and winter versions.

Nevertheless, we did not relaunch the homepage at some point and so it remained with the 2006 version with only a few small updates. In 2018, we took the homepage offline because the site's technology was no longer up to date with what is currently expected of a homepage. We also felt that the content was no longer up to date.

There were some considerations to adapt the site to the current modern web design, but we always decided against it and just left the memory in the past.

It was only when the idea of a complete homepage about our hobbies etc. came up that it became clear that the moose section would be reintegrated. Unfortunately, we can't recreate the photos. Many of the moose left us during the refugee wave of 2015/2016. At the time, we thought that the children who lost everything needed at least one stuffed friend that they could hold at night. So about 150 of our moose moved into their new families.

Here is a picture of the Christmas version. This version was only visible from December 24th to December 30th of each year.

However, not everything from the old homepage was integrated into this new one; the guestbook and desktop backgrounds disappeared, as did the moose cartoons.

Nevertheless, we hope that some of you will enjoy it.
